Ellington Graduate Being Held In Connection With Assault on Brown University Athlete

An Ellington High School graduate now living in Vernon was taken into custody Wednesday in connection with a weekend assault in Rhode Island that left a Brown University basketball player critically injured, police said. 

Tory Lussier, 25, has been charged with being a fugitive from justice and is awaiting extradition to Rhode Island, according to a news release.

Members of the Providence Police Department contacted Vernon Police detectives regarding the felony investigation involving Lussier and asked for their assistance, police said. 

Vernon police located and arrested Lussier at his 57 Pinnacle Dr. residence without incident, a department spokesman said. 

Lussier, a 2007 EHS graduate, was being held Wednesday evening at the Vernon Police Department, according to a news release.

According to a Tuesday story on WPRI.com, Joseph Sharkey, 21, received head injures after what authorities are calling an unprovoked attack on Sunday morning. Sharkey is a guard that appeared in 28 games for Brown. 

A Vernon police spokesman said Lussier has been arrested before. He and his brother were charged with assault after a September road rage incident on Route 83 in Vernon near Connecticut Golf Land that left a firefighter from Ellington's Crystal Lake Department injured. 

Lussier is due back in Rockville Superior Court on May 29 for the continuing court procedure related to the Connecticut incident, according to judicial department records.
