Knights Advance to Softball Quarterfinals With 6-1 Win Over Montville

Ellington will face NCCC rival and top-seeded Suffield Friday at 4 p.m.

Ellington advanced to the Class M softball quarterfinals by defeating Montville 6-1 Thursday.

Rachel Tshonas was the winning pitcher, striking out seven.

Danielle Pare led the Ellington offense with three hits, including a triple, and three runs batted in. Nikki Foote, coming off an ankle injury, contributed a pair of doubles. 

The Knights also sparkled defensively, pulling off a double play with a great throw from first baseman Danielle Markowski and a great tag by catcher Brianna DeLand. Shannon Millane also made a pair of great catches in the outfield.

Ellington, the eighth seed, travels to top-seeded Suffield Friday at 4 p.m.
