Somers Backpack Program

The Somers Back-to-School Backpack Program is seeking donations of school supplies prior to the start of the new school year. Children from low-income households in town may qualify for a backpack of school and homework supplies.

The backpack program benefits children from kindergarten through high school. All types of school supplies, suitable for all ages, such as notebooks, binders, loose leaf paper, subject dividers, pocket folders, flash drives, calculators, dictionaries, pencils and pens, erasers, index cards, highlighters, regular or dry erase markers, as well as backpacks are being accepted. We will also accept monetary donations in order to purchase needed supplies. Any donation will be accepted from now through August 16th.

School supplies may be dropped off at the Somers Senior Center at 19 Battle Street, or in donation boxes in the Town Hall, Geissler’s Supermarket, and other locations around town. Monetary donations must be delivered to the Somers Senior Center by mail or in person; make checks payable to the “Town of Somers, Backpack Program”, and mail to P.O. Box 308, Somers, CT 06071.
