Somers Finishes Strong

The Somers High School girls basketball team closed the season with a road win at Enfield.

The girls basketball team took to the road Friday for its final game of the season and came home with a 40-16 victory over .

Somers jumped out to a 15-1 first quarter lead, led by Ashley Kinney's six points, Kelsey Charette's four points, and Samantha Urbon's two points.

Enfield outscored Somers 10-8 in the second quarter, but Kinney's 11 second half points kept Enfield at bay.

Fourteen Somers players saw action as the Spartans capped a three games in three days span.

Kinney's 17 points led Somers (6-14), followed by Urbon's season high nine points to go with eight rebounds.

Rachel Kaliff led Enfield (0-18) with eight points.

Enfield travels to Ellington on Saturday.
