The Ellington High School boys' basketball team is heading to the state tournament while the Somers High School team just missed the post season.

The  boys' basketball team did just enough and is headed to the post season.  just missed making the Class S tournament, going 7-13 on the season. 

The Knights finished the season 8-12, exactly the record you need to make the state tournament. The win that put them into the playoffs came on Feb. 17 - Senior Night - against Canton.

In Class M, No. 29 Ellington will travel to No. 4 Watertown (17-3) on Tuesday.

With three games remaining in the season, the Spartans had six wins, meaning they needed to win two of the last three. They couldn't quite do it. They first fell to Coventry by six and then to East Granby by one before defeating Ellington to end the season.
