Kyle Foster a Class S Champion

The junior captain pinned his way to the Class S wrestling finals match, and then defeated that opponent by a 5-2 decision.

On Saturday, Somers High School's Kyle Foster became the Class S wrestling champion with a 5-2 decision over Killingly's Jake Whitehead.

Foster, 195-pounds, pinned his way into the finals match. First, he pinned Griswold's Damion Currier in 1:48, then pinned Canton's Chris Mutch in 1:16, and finally, pinned Derby's Luis Casco in 3:18.

Somers sophomore Hunter Frasca had a great showing also, placing sixth and advancing to the State Open.

Foster and Frasca will next compete in the State Open championships on Friday and Saturday in New Haven.
