Ellington Looking to Form a Charter Revision Commission

The town is looking for residents considering to serve on the commission.

The Ellington Board of Selectmen will consider establishment of a Charter Revision Commission at its February 10, 2014 meeting.

The Charter Revision Commission will be instructed to consider recommended changes/additions in the Town of Ellington’s Town Charter as it deems necessary or desirable.

The Board of Selectmen is seeking citizens interested in serving on this Commission. Interested citizens must complete a Statement of Interest Form, available in the First Selectman’s Office (860-870-3100) or on the website at www.ellington-ct.gov.

The Commission will consist of five to fifteen electors, appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Not more than one-third may hold another Town of Ellington public office, with a bare majority from the same political party.

The Commission’s draft report will be due no later than 16 months from date of appointment, and the Commission will terminate upon acceptance or rejection of its final report by the Board of Selectmen.
