SOMERS — C.G. Bud Knorr, Jr., known as “ Bud” around Somers, has opened a candidate committee for his re-election campaign for the Somers Board of Selectmen.

“Somers has maintained a great quality of life for residents despite the challenging economy. Over the past two years we’ve kept taxes low despite the cuts in municipal aid from the state," said Knorr.

Knorr is running for his second term for the Board of Selectmen and brings over 40 years of executive experience to the office. He has an extensive background in the areas of finance, marketing, manufacturing, strategic planning, and communications, which he has used effectively as a member of the Board of Selectmen.

Knorr added, “Somers is the model for responsible and responsive local government. We’ve reduced costs to Somers taxpayers by streamlining programs, improving communications and administrative procedures, implementing energy efficiencies in town buildings, and acquiring open space to ensure and preserve the unique character of the town."

Knorr indicated that he and the Board of Selectmen will run on their record of achievement, promising "to continue the bipartisan cooperation to move Somers ahead with dedicated leadership and proven results."
