Truck Crashes into House in Ellington

The driver lost control and crashed into the corner of a home on Charter Road.

On Saturday morning, a truck crashed into the house at 3 Charter Rd. in Ellington when a man who was learning to drive lost control of the vehicle, Connecticut State Police said.

The man, 21, was being taught how to drive by his father. He came around the corner and was going a little too fast so his father yelled for him to hit the brake. The man panicked and accidentally hit the gas.

He hit a fire hydrant - which is technically located in Vernon - drove across a couple of lawns, hit a speed limit sign. The vehicle then crossed the street and went across another lawn and then into the house next door.
