Trooper Arrested for Involvement in February Accident

State Police Lt. Timothy Kradas, a Somers resident, turned himself in to state police on March 11, according to state officials.

A state police lieutenant involved in an accident on Interstate 384 in February has been charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Lt. Timothy Kradas, 47, turned himself in to State Police Troop H in Hartford last week upon learning of a warrant for his arrest, according to state police. Kradas has also been charged with following too close, failure to wear a seat belt and littering.

Kradas has been released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Manchester on March 28, according to a state police news release.

Kradas, a Somers resident, according to town records, was on duty and traveling on the interstate near exit 59 on Feb. 2 when the cruiser he was driving rear ended a box truck, according to an article in the Hartford Courant.

At the scene fellow troopers found several emtpy beer cans and a mixed drink, according to the Courant article.

The trooper was seriously injured, but the driver of the other vehicle was unharmed, according to the Courant.
