Troop C Police Blotter — Arrests Ending Oct. 30, 2013

The latest arrest roundup for Ellington, Somers and the surrounding area.

Here is a summary of the weekend activity from the state police Troop C barracks. Arrest information is furnished by the state police and does not indicate a conviction.
Ellington

Oct. 30


Charles Carter, 30, 24 West Road, Apt. 19, Ellington, was charged with operating under the influence and operating a car at a slow speed after police clocked Carter traveling 37 mph in a 65 mph zone on I-84 in Vernon on Oct. 30. Police pulled Carter over and determined he was operating under the influence. He later posted a $500 bond and is due in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 6.

State police are investigating a burglary at a home at 27 Wells Road in Ellington that was reported on Oct. 29 at 9:45 p.m. According to police the homeowner was away and reported that someone broke into the home and stole miscellaneous jewelry and a handgun. Police are currently investigating the case and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Rua at Troop C at 860-896-3200.
Vernon


Oct. 28

Steven Houser, 23, of Vernon, was charged with third-degree larceny and fifth-degree burglary after he was taken into custody on Oct. 28 around 11:05 p.m. in Vernon off of Exit 67. He was wanted in connection to an incident on Westland Road in Ellington on Sept. 28. 

Oct. 30


Brian G. Caldwell, 54, 18 Center St., Stafford, was charged with a violation of probation after he was taken into custody on Park Street in Vernon on Oct. 30. Police said he was wanted on a warrant issued on Sept. 18. Caldwell was held on a $15,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Oct. 31.

Oct. 28


Mark P. Cessarini, 73, 111 Rosewell St., Springfield, Mass., was charged with operating under the influence and a failure to drive in the proper lane after police pulled him over on Route 190 east in the area of Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford on Oct. 28 around 5:50 a.m. He was released on a $500 bond and was due in Rockville Superior Court on Oct. 28.

Willington

Oct. 29


State police arrested three people on Oct. 29 on charges of sixth-degree larceny and a conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny in connection to an incident on Ruby Road in Willington in September. The suspects are Robert B. Benson, 28, of 93 Wangumbaug Drive in Coventry, Justin B. Locke, 25, of 83 Squirrel Trail in Coventry and Travis Stewart, 34, of 591 Zion St. in Hartford. Stewart is due in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 7 and the other two are due in court on Nov. 12.
