State Police Searching for Suspect in Webster Bank Robbery

The Somers branch was robbed on Saturday morning.

At 11:19 a.m. on Saturday, state police at in Tolland received several 911 calls and bank alarms from the  in Somers reporting that a bank robbery had just taken place and police are now searching for the suspect. 

According to police, the suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, white and blue bandana covering his face, sunglasses, blue jeans, and black gloves with white stripes. 

The man ran into the bank and jumped over the counter to the teller stations demanding money from the tellers. The suspect then jumped back over the counter and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

There was no weapon shown or implied and no bank personnel were injured.

The suspect fled from a rear parking lot/wood line of an adjacent church and drove from the scene in a dark colored sedan. The suspect vehicle traveled north on Battle Street. 

According to a police report, a red dye pack exploded on the suspect and the stolen money. 

Troopers from the 's Office responded to the scene and immediately began a search of the area. State Police K-9 teams responded to participate in the search for the suspect. 

The bank robbery scene was secured and State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to process the crime scene. Troopers identified and conducted interviews with several witnesses regarding the bank robbery. 

Surrounding Police Departments and Massachusetts State Police were advised of the details of this robbery. 

State Police are continuing this investigation. They are asking anyone who has any information regarding this robbery, or saw anything just prior to or immediately after the robbery, to please cal Troop C at 860-896-3200. All calls will be kept confidential.

The CT Bankers Reward Association is offering a $2,000 reward for the arrest of the suspect.
