State Police Search for Somers Xtra-Mart Armed Robbery Suspects

Two white males in their early twenties robbed the Xtra-Mart at 169 Main Street on Tuesday night, police said.

State police said they are searching for two men who robbed a Somers Xtra-Mart at knifepoint Tuesday night.

According to a press release from Troop C, the two white males in their early twenties entered the store located at 169 Main Street and demanded the combination to the store's safe while one suspect held a knife to the clerk's throat.

After the clerk said that he didn't know the combination number, the suspects told the employee to open the cash register, according to police. One of the men took an unspecified amount of money, and the other one acted as a lookout, police said.

The suspects then left the scene on foot, heading towards Hall Hill Road.

According to the release, video footage from the scene shows that the suspect with the knife was wearing jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers. The other man had on jeans, a dark coat and a red and black plaid winter hat.

Police searched the immediate area after an Xtra-Mart employee called 911 at 11:36 p.m., police said.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 860-896-3200.
