State Police Remind Residents to Lock Their Cars and Homes

A rash of car burglaries Monday night has prompted these tips from the resident state troopers in Ellington and Somers.

State police are asking residents to take extra precautions after a string of car burglaries Monday night in Somers and Stafford.

A number of unlocked vehicles were ransacked, with GPS units and change being the most predominant items stolen, Sgt. Patrick Sweeney said.

The resident troopers in Ellington and Somers are reminding residents to lock their car doors and remove valuables from their vehicles if they are going to be away for any period of time. They also ask you to ensure your home is locked and secured before leaving.
