Six Young People Involved in Saturday Car Accident

The accident took place at just after 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Just after 3 a.m. on Saturday morning, Connecticut State Police and the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department responded to a car accident on Pinnacle Road involving six "juveniles."     

Fire Chief Michael Varney said that it was one-vehicle accident that broke a utility pole, which landed in the street with a transformer leaking oil on the roadway. He said that the car also hit several trees and that the entire car caught fire - along with the adjacent wooded area.  

The fires were extinguished by fire department personnel.  

Varney said that there were six occupants in the vehicle, all of whom were out of the vehicle before fire department arrival. All six were treated and transported to either Hartford Hospital or Connecticut Children's Medical Center.  

Ambulances from Ellington and Vernon were used, with assistance from the Rockville and Johnson paramedics.  

According to Connecticut State Police, this incident is currently under investigation.
