OMG PD: Week Ending Dec. 18, 2011

A look at some remarkable police cases from Connecticut.


The Case
: A 48-year-old Hartford man was arrested after shoplifting from the LensCrafters inside the Buckland Hills Mall.

The OMG PD Twist
: gave police a false name and driver's license at first, but that he was found to have five active warrants to his name. A search of McDowell's vehicle also yielded a wooden club. He was charged with four counts of failure to appear, interfering with police, fifth-degree larceny, criminal impersonation, misuse of a license, and possession of weapons in a motor vehicle.

The Case
: A 39-year-old Manchester man was arrested after getting involved in an argument with his father.

The OMG PD Twist
:  fired off two rounds from a .22 caliber rifle. He was charged with criminal attempt, attempt to commit first degree assault, second-degree threatening, first degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, and two counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm. This was not his first run-in with the law. Buckland has a previous conviction on Sept. 24, 2010, for the iellegal possession of explosives, stemming from an incident that occured in October of 2008.

The Case
: A 48-year-old Vernon woman was arrested after leaving the scene of a car accident.

The OMG PD Twist
: Once returned to the scene, she became "very disruptive" and "combative" toward officers and had to be removed from her vehicle. She was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of assaulting an officer, second-degree breach of peace, evading responsibility, operating a motor vehicle without the minimum insurance, interfering with an officer, and traveling too fast for conditions.

The Case
: A 24-year-old North Carolina man was arrested for breach of peace and criminal mischief after an incident at the Howard Johnson hotel in Vernon.

The OMG PD Twist
: A front desk clerk called police after getting into an argument with . When police arrived, Fox was acting drunk and disorderly in the parking lot. The owner of the hotel told police he just wanted Fox off the property, and friends tried to take him away, but in the process, Fox began fighting with his friends. While inside the cruiser, still in the parking lot, he began spitting blood in the rear seat and the criminal mischief charge was added. Fox was placed in a spit mask and transported to police headquarters.

The Case
: A 15-year-old boy was arrested for first-degree criminal trespassing and breach of peace following an incident at the Derynoski Elementary School in Southington.

The OMG PD Twist
: The boy and refused to leave when asked by school officials and proceeded to cause a disturbance that led officials to bring all the children back inside the school. School officials asked the 15-year-old, who stood 6 feet tall, weighed 145 pounds and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, to leave several times. The boy refused and said he could “be where he wanted.”

The Case: A 52-year-old Branford man was charged following a breach of peace incident on a public transportation bus in Branford.

The OMG PD Twist: boarded a bus and began telling people he was Jesus before causing a public disturbance that led several people to call police. Esposito was ejected from the bus by several male passengers after refusing to get off and proceeded to try and break several windows.
