Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: April 19-April 25

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of April 26, 2013. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

April 20

Keith Durao, 24, of 24 Hayes Ave. in Ellington was arrested after a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 31 in Vernon. During the stop, he was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, was subjected to a series of field sobriety tests that he failed, and was arrested. Durao was transported to Troop C where he was processed according to state police policy and released.  

April 22

A 59-year-old Ellington woman was traveling eastbound on I-84 in Tolland and exited off the highway via the exit 68 off ramp. Another vehicle was behind the Ellington woman and when she slowed to stop at the traffic light at the intersection of Merrow Road, the vehicle rear-ended her. The vehicle then evaded the scene. The Ellington woman was not injured and her vehicle was driven from the scene.

April 23

The Somers Resident State Trooper's Office is investigating residential burglaries on Hall Hill Road, Colorado Drive, and Pomeroy Lane. In the Colorado Drive incident, jewelry and electronic goods were taken. If anyone witnessed any suspicious activity or vehicles in these areas, please call Troop C at 860-896-3200 or the Somers office at 860-749-4955.

April 25

A 22-year-old Vernon woman was established in the rotary when a 65-year-old Ellington woman entered the rotary and collided with the Vernon woman. No injuries and minor vehicle damage resulted.   

William Maurus, 27, of 11 Stonefield Tr. in South Windsor, turned himself in at the Troop C barracks on an outstanding arrest warrant for an incident on Windmill Road in Ellington. He was charged with third-degree larceny and was released on a $2,5000 non-surety bond pending his appearance at Rockville Superior Court on May 7. 

The Ellington Resident State Trooper's office responded to a despondent person call.
