Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Sept. 2-Sept. 11

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Sept. 12, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Sept. 2

An 44-year-old Ellington woman and 10-year-old Ellington girl were traveling northbound on Somers Road in Ellington. Angela D. Lanzieri, 40, of 359 Four Bridges Rd. in Somers was behind them. Lanzieri struck the rear of other vehicle and then evaded the scene without stoping. She and her vehicle were located in Somers and she was subsequently charged with several motor vehicle charges to include failure to allow proper distance between vehicles, operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of a registration plate, failure to maintain minimum insurance, and evading responsibility. There were no injuries and minor damage was done to both vehicles. 

Michael Toscano, 46, was transported from Osborn Correctional Institution to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. Troopers placed Toscano under arrest on an active arrest warrant for the charge of fugitive from justice. Toscano was processed and held on a $50,000 bond set by Sgt. Sharland. He was then turned back over to the State Marshals to be presented to the court.

A 35-year-old New Haven man was traveling south on Shaker Road near Collins Road in Somers when his vehicle travelled off the right shoulder and sideswiped a CL&P pole. There was no damage done to pole but there was front end damage done to the vehicle. 

Justin M. Morrone, 26, was arrested after a PRAWN warrant had been issued earlier this year by Manchester Superior Court for the charge of second degree failure to appear. Troop C was notified by of the active PRAWN Warrant for Morrone who currently is an inmate and was scheduled to be released from Osborn Correctional Institution. Morrone was met at the front entrance to Osborn Correctional Institution where he was placed under arrest. Morrrone was transported to Troop C and was processed. Morrone is being held on a court set $2,5000 cash or surety bond.

Sept. 5

Troop C personnel responded to for an inmate on inmate assault resulting in minor injury. This incident remains under investigation.

Sept. 6

Troopers are investigating the theft of items from unlocked vehicles on Brockway Road in Ellington. The case is still under investigation.

Sept. 7

Joshua M. Groves, 19, of 11 Eva Cir. in Vernon, was arrested after state police responded to the gas station located at 5 Wapping Wood Rd. in Ellington. The complainant reported that a male had entered her vehicle and taken money from her wallet. The vehicle then left the scene headed in the direction of Vernon. While on the scnee, the suspect vehicle was observed in the area and subsequently stopped by state police. Groves was charged with third degree burglary from a motor vehicle, sixth degree larceny from a motor vehicle, and possession of weapons in a motor vehicle. He was also charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol. He was released on a $1,000 non surety bond and is due to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 27. 

Sept. 8

A resident on Webster Road in Ellington reported that their residence was broken into and valuable items were taken. The case is under investigation.

Sept. 11

State police responded to a residential burglary on Maple Street in Ellington. This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact state trooper Jacob Bissaillon at the at 860-875-1522.
