Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Sept. 16-Sept. 22

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Sept. 23, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Sept. 17

State police responded to a report of criminal mischief to a vehicle, which occurred on Lower Butcher Road in Ellington. This incident is currently under investigation.

A vehicle driven by a 57-year-old Willington man was traveling east on Route 190 approaching the intersction with Braeburn Road in Somers. Due to a mechanical failure, the trailer that he was towing became detatched and struck a tree on the westbound side of the roadway.

State police responded to a domestic disturbance on Snipsic Lake Road in Ellington. This incident is still under investigation. 

Sept. 18

A woman arrived at Troop C to report a disturbance between her son and his cousin that occurred on School Street in Somers on Sept. 16, 2011. No injuries were sustained. This case is currently under investigation.

Sept. 20

John Richard Newton, 25, of 11 Westland Dr. in Ellington, was arrested for third degree larceny after state police served an active Rockville Superior Court arrest warrant on him at his residence. Newton was taken into custody without incident and was transported to Troop C in Tolland where he was processed and held on a $5,000 cash bond.
