Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Nov. 4-Nov. 10

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Nov. 11, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Nov. 5

At 2:20 a.m., there was a report of a two-vehicle accident on Main Street by Shaker Road in Somers. A 26-year-old Enfield man stayed on the scene, but Melissa Flaherty, 30, of 101 South St. Apt. 74 in Vernon, evaded. Flaherty returned a short time later. Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed. Flaherty was arrested on the scene for DUI and evading. A 19-year-old Enfield woman, a passenger in the man's vehicle, was transported by to Johnson Memorial Hospital with complaint of minor pain.

Brian R. Grenier, 49, of 52 Jurovaty Rd. in Andover was transported from to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. A trooper placed Grenier under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued by Rockville Superior Court for the charge of fugitive from justice. Grenier was processed and held on a $50,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court on the charge.

A 21-year-old Vernon woman was travelling southbound on Route 83 (Somers Road) at Route 140 (Crystal Lake Road) in Ellington. She entered onto the right soft shoulder of the highway and collided with two highway signposts and a utility pole prior to coming to a final rest position. The woman reported no injuries at the scene, refused medical treatment, and was reported to have been wearing a safety belt at the time of the collision. She was issued a written warning at the scene for making an improper right turn.
