Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: June 8-June 14

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of June 15, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

June 9

Gregg A. Granville, 50, of 380 Four Bridges Rd. in Somers, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after being stopped on Route 190 in Somers. He was subjected to a series of field sobriety tests that he failed, at which time he was arrested. Granville was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive in the proper lane of a multiple lane highway. He was transported to Troop C where he was processed and released on a $500 non-surety bond with a scheduled court date of June 25. 

Steve Carson, 46, of 12 Ridgefield Rd. in Enfield, as suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after being stopped at Main Street and Church Street in Ellington. He was subjected to a series of field sobriety tests that he failed, at which time he was arrested. Carson was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive upon right. He was transported to Troop C where he was processed and was held on a $500 non-surety bond and later released.

June 10

Justin Fiske, 18, of 335 Hall Hill Rd. in Somers, was seen traveling north on Hampden Road in Somers. He was observed not wearing his seatbelt, and a motor vehicle stop was conducted. Fiske was placed under arrest for several drug charges and transported to Troop C. The vehicle was towed to . He was charged with failure to wear a safety belt, drug paraphernalia, and sale of a controlled substance by a non-drug dependent person and was later released on a $15,000 non-surety bond with a court date of June 20.  

Zachary Swanson, 19, of 100 Glendale Rd. in South Hampton, MA, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during a motor vehicle stop on Sadds Mill Road in Ellington. He was subjected to a series of field sobriety tests that he failed and was arrested. Swanson was transported to Troop C where he was processed according to state police policy. He was held on a $500 cash/surety bond and was later released.  

June 11

Troopers responded to Soap Stone State Park to assist a Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officer who discovered three individuals trespassing on state property. One individual fled on food and was later located by a state police K-9 team. All three individuals were arrested and released on bond with a court date of June 20. Jeffery Lee Bump, 23, of 28 Loveland Hill Rd. Vernon, and Morgan Ashley Mische, 21, of 15 Bancroft Rd. in Vernon, were charged with third-degree criminal trespass. Tyler Richard Hassett, 22, of 21 Private Grounds Rd. in Ellington, was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and interfering with an officer.

June 12

Walter W. Griswold, 47, of 55 Webster Rd. in Ellington, was taken into custody after contacting a party listed in an active restraining order in violation of the condition listed on the restraining order. He was taken into custody and transported to Troop C where he was held on a $1,500 bond. Griswold was assigned a court date of June 13. 

A 24-year-old Florida woman was traveling northbound on Somers Road when she scratched her eye, causing her to drift to the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck six wooden guard posts and a CL&P utility pole. The vehicle was towed from the scene with moderate right side damage and the woman was not injured. She was charged with making a restricted turn.

June 13

A 40-year-old Ellington woman and a 26-year-old Stafford woman were both traveling northbound on Stafford Road in Ellington. The Ellington woman was attempting to turn into a private driveway and the Stafford woman attempted to pass her at that time. The Stafford woman impacted the other vehicle, causing her to lose control of her vehicle. The Stafford woman's vehicle rolled over and came to rest in the center of the roadway. The Stafford woman was transported by to St. Francis Hospital for minor injuries. The Ellington woman was transported by Tolland Ambulance to Rockville Hospital for complaint of pain. The Stafford woman was charged with unsafe passing and failure to wear seatbelt. The Ellington woman's vehicle had minor damage and the Stafford woman's vehicle was heavily damaged and towed from the scene. 

A 19-year-old Broad Brook woman was traveling north on Pinney Street, just south of Nutmeg Road, in Ellington. An unknown vehicle was stopped and waiting to turn left into . The woman made a maneuver to the right to pass the stopped vehicle, and subsequently lost control of her vehicle, striking a telephone pole. She reported minor injuries and refused to go to the hospital for treatment. 

Megan Elizabeth Ryan, 26, of 6 Murray Rd. in South Windsor, was found to have altered a prescription and obtained the prescription at the , located at 135 West Rd. in Ellington. Ryan was arrested, charged with altering a prescription, processed, and released pending her court appearance at June 27.  

June 14

Jaime H. Campos, 29, of 360 Springfield Rd. in Somers, was stopped for a traffic violation and after failing several standardized field sobriety tests, was paced under arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed that Campos was also in possession <4 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. 

Anthony G. Sciarra, 48, of 37 Millstone Dr. in Marlborough, turned himself in at Troop C on an active arrest warrant issued by Manchester Superior Court. The warrant was issued after a complaint was made by an Ellington business that discovered that the insurance needs that they had been making payment for had never been provided by the insurer. He was charged with first-degree larceny: false pretense of promise, and second-degree forgery.
