Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: June 15-June 21

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of June 22, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

June 15

A 68-year-old Ellington man was traveling west on Pease Farm Road attempting to turn left onto Route 83 in Ellington. A motorcycle being driven by a 30-year-old Manchester man was traveling north on Route 83. The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck the Ellington man as he pulled onto the roadway. The Manchester man and his passenger, a 30-year-old Tolland woman, were transported to Rockville General Hospital by Vernon EMS and for evaluation and possible treatment. Both occupants of the motorcycle were wearing a helmet.

John Connor, 52, of 39 Mulberry Ln. in Somers, was charged after police received a call for an erratic operation on Route 190 in Somers. He was located operating his tractor trailer unit in the parking lot of on Field Road in Somers. Connor was arrested for DWI after failing several field sobriety tests. He was transported to Troop C, held, and released on a $2,500 non-surety bond with a court date of June 27.

A 41-year-old Ellington man was traveling south on Wendell Road in Ellington as a 22-year-old Ellington man was traveling north on Wendell Road. The younger man failed to negotiate a right hand curve and lost control of his motorcycle and slid into the front of the other man's vehicle. The younger man reported minor injuries and was transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
