Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: July 29-Aug. 4

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Aug. 5, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

July 29

A reported evading accident occurred in the parking lot in Somers. The accident was not witnessed and no description was provided. No injuries were reported.

John Baker, 38, of 179 Piper Rd. in West Springfield, MA, was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive right after Troop C received numerous 911 calls of a vehicle operating erratically on Route 190 in Somers. Upon observing the vehicle, the trooper conducted a motor vehicle stop and upon approaching the vehicle, the trooper smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emaating from within the vehicle. Upon conducting standardized field sobriety tests on Baker, it was determined that he could not or would not perform said tests to standard. He was taken into custody without incident.

Kenneth John Auyeyng, 20, of 404 Falls View Rd. in Manchester, was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol after an accident occurred on Jobs Hill Road in Ellington. After further investigation, Auyeyng was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. No injuries were reported. Auyeyng was transported to Troop C in Tolland without incident.  

Aug. 3 

Kristen Duclos, 29, of 56 Hampden Rd. in Somers, and Jonathan F. Dupuis, 28, of 6102 Havener House Way Apt. #3 in Centreville, VA were both arrested after there was a report of a disturbance that took place at Duclos' home. Upon investigation of the incident, it was determined that a domestic assault had occurred. Both people were placed under arrest and transported to Troop C in Tolland. Duclos was charged with disorderly conduct (fight/cause/capable of causing minor injury) and third degree assault. Dupuis was charged with disorderly conduct (no fight/no threat/no obstructing). Both were released on non-surety bonds.  

Aug. 4

A vehicle driven by an 83-year-old Vernon woman accelerated out of a driveway on Turnpike Road in Somers, directly into the travel lanes of the roadway. A 46-year-old Somers man observed the woman traveling out of the driveway in reverse at a high rate of speed and was able to bring his vehicle to a complete stop in the southbound lane of Turnpike Road. The woman contineud out of the driveway and began to spin out of control and into the left side of the man's vehicle - and an attached horse trailer - before coming to an uncontrolled final rest. There were no reported injuries in this accident, however, the woman was transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital for precautionary reasons.  

Heather Petrozza, 32, of 12 Florence Ave. in Ellington was arrested for DUI and driving in an improper lane after police responded to a single-car crash on West Main Street in Vernon in front of the Rockville Tavern. Petrozza was found passed out at the wheel and was "highly intoxicated." Bond was set at $500 and Petrozza is due in court on Aug. 15.
