Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Feb. 25 - March 3

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of March 3, 2011.

Feb. 27

At 5:25 p.m., a 59-year-old man called police to say that he had been assauled on Feb. 18th by two unknown men on Sandy Beach Road in Ellington. The man told police that the assailants took an undetermined amount of cash from him during the attack, during which he received physical injuries. State police are investigating the incident.

Lucy Wierzkicki, 27, of 93 Abbe Rd., Enfield, was arrested and charged with issuing a bad check to the Minor Oil Co. Wierzkicki turned herself in to police and was released on a cash bond. She is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Rockville on March 7.

A Windsor Locks woman was charged with failure to drive right after she struck a snowbank and then a utility pole on Jobs Hill Road at 1:35 p.m. Kathy Gragnolati, 49, of 25 Roberts St., was traveling in a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe when she lost control of the vehicle along the northbound side of the road. When the vehicle struck the support cables for the utility poles it caused the house at No. 334 to temorarily lose power. Gragnolati's vehicle suffered front bumper damage and was towed from the scene.

Jose Gonzalez, 25, was charged with rioting in a correctional facility. Gonzalez is currently being held at the Northern Correctional Facility on Bilton Road in Somers. He was represented in Superior Court in Rockville on the same day and held on a $150,000 bond.

Heather M. Sharp, 30, of 16 Ridgewood Road, Somers, was charged with first-degree larceny by extortion, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. She was held on a $5,000 bond and presented in Superior Court in Rockville the same day. Sharp is a teacher and coach at Somers High School and has been put on paid leave, without prejudice, from her duties.

March 2

Armando Perez, 24, was charged with possession of a weapon at a correctional facility, rioting at a correctional facility and second-degree assault. Perez is currently a prisoner at the Northern Correctional Facility on Bilton Road in Somers. He was presented in Superior Court in Rockville the same day and held on bond.

March 3

Shortly before 9 a.m. a two-car accident on Route 190 near Ninth District Road caused some traffic headaches but no injuries to the two drivers. Robert V. Keirans, 71, of Stafford Springs was traveling west in his 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt followed by Kendralynn Botting, 23, also of Stafford Springs, who was driving a 2007 Ford F-150 truck. Keirans stopped for traffic ahead, but Botting was not as quick and the truck ran into the back of the sedan. Botting was cited for following too close.
