Ellington Man Gets Refill on Charges in Prescription Fraud Case

He was already in court to face charges in the case and several more were added, police said.

An Ellington man already being held on drug forgery charges is facing another nine charges, Vernon police said on Wednesday.

It is his fourth set of criminal charges in about four months, according to police records.

Janusz Surowka, 35, of 7 Gabriel Dr., Ellington, was in Rockville Superior Court on Wednesday to face charges relating to an alleged prescription fraud incident last month at a local supermarket pharmacy, according to a police report.

Police said nine more charges were added to the case - three counts related to false prescriptions, three counts of second-degree forgery and three counts of obtaining drugs by fraud.

Surowka was taken into custody by Vernon police on Sept, 21 and charged with trying to obtain drugs by fraud, possessing a false prescription and second-degree forgery, according to an incident report.

Vernon police were notified of the false prescriptions by staff members of the Stop & Shop pharmacy on Windsorville Road, on Sept. 19 a report indicates.

Police said he entered the store with the phony prescriptions two days earlier.

Judicial system records indicate that Surowka has a long history of similar cases
