DOC Investigating a Sexual Assault Allegation at Northern Correctional

Police said a correction's officer was accused of sexually assaulting an inmate at the prison in Somers.

A corrections officer at a state prison in Somers is being accused of sexually assaulting an inmate.

According to a state police report, troopers responded to Northern Correctional Facility in the town of Somers on Nov. 29 for a report that a corrections officer allegedly sexually assaulting a 22-year-old male inmate. 

The case is under investigation and has been referred to the Department of Corrections, state police confirmed.

DOC spokesman Andrius Banevicius said he could not comment on the case because it involves personnel.

Police did not name the corrections officer.
