Updated: Abbott Road Home Extensively Damaged by Fire

No injuries reported.

According to Ellington Fire Marshal Allan Lawrence, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. A spokesman for the American Red Cross said that the family declined assistance, but that the American Red Cross is still available to help if need be.

A home at 27 Abbott Road was extensively damaged by fire Sunday afternoon, officials said. 

The fire caused extensive damage to the home and spread to neighboring woods, causing a brush fire, Ellington Deputy Fire Marshal Rob Dabica said. Units were able to contain the brush fire, keeping it from spreading and damaging neighboring homes.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation, Dabica said. Multiple departments responded to the fire, including , Vernon, Tolland and others, he added.
