CHRISTMAS PALOOZA NEARS SELLOUT, BUT NEEDS DONATIONS

The December 21, 2013 Christmas Palooza fund raiser to benefit the Nicholas David Coleman Scholarship Foundation reports that ticket sales have been extremely brisk and that the event is nearly sold out. Organizers of the event Kevin Roberts and Rich Tynan say that the community has responded to the event and in addition to ticket sales many of the local businesses have donated goods and services to the events planned basket raffles.

It really makes you feel good to see so many people step up to help school kids and to honor Nick” said Tynan. Nicholas Coleman was a 17 year old Somers High student who died as a result of an automobile crash in October 2012. This years fund raiser is being held at the Somers Knights of Columbus and it offers appetizers, dinner, dancing dessert and many raffles and door prizes. Tickets are $15.

At this point I doubt we will have tickets available at the door, said Tynan. Some people have chosen to donate to the event and the organizers are still seeking donations. “We are still looking for gift cards and prizes to raffle off, if anyone wishes to donate goods or services of any kind we will make them part of our basket raffle and give each organization recognition for their donation”. Tynan went on to say that “each day brings new surprises, people call and offer money, gift cards or to just bake an item for the event.  It really is going to be a great event.

All proceeds will go directly to the Nicholas David Coleman Foundation and will be used to provide scholarships to graduating seniors. Last year the Foundation awarded $7,000 in scholarships. Linda Coleman, mother of Nicholas, says that if the event is successful enough, the foundation would look to possibly renew the scholarships awarded last year as well as offering new scholarships in 2014. “We’ll see how it turns out”. Anyone wishing to make a donation of any kind can contact Rich Tynan at 860-280-6505 at their convenience.
