June: Dog License Renewal

All dogs age six months and older must be licensed by State law and wear a collar with the license at all times. At the time of licensing, proof of a Rabies vaccination is required. All dogs three calendar months old must have a current Rabies vaccination. It is very important that you verify with the Town Clerks your address and phone number. Nobody ever expects to lose their dog or have it escape from the yard, but you have to be prepared if it does. You will be contacted much quicker if we have your current contact information. Your dog may avoid spending the night in the pound! Fees for licensing are as follows: Male or Female $19.00 Spayed Female or Neutered Male $8.00 A $1.00/month late fee will be added if you are delinquent in licensing your dog. In addition, if you are delinquent you could receive an infraction for having an unlicensed dog, which is a fee of $75.00. If the dog is also not current on Rabies vaccination, you could also have to pay a fee of $136.00. Licenses can be renewed several ways. If your dog's Rabies is still current, you can license on the town website. You will need your dogs license number from the previous year. Follow this link for licensing online: http://ellington-ct.gov/Plugs/god_licenses.aspx Renewals can also be done in the Town Clerk's office or by mail. Their office hours are Monday 8:30 am - 6:00 pm, Tuesday - Thursday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, and Friday 8:30 am - 1:30 pm. If you prefer to mail your renewal, please include a copy of a current Rabies certificate, a check for the proper amount (include late fees if delinquent), and a self addressed stamped envelope to receive your tag back in the mail. Make checks payable to Town of Ellington. Mail to Ellington Town Clerk, PO Box 187, Ellington, CT 06029. Please call the Town Clerk if you are no longer a resident in Ellington or if you no longer have your dog. If you are licensing a new dog or a dog that has been spayed or neutered since it was licensed last, please bring a copy of spay/neuter certificate from your vet if this is not indicated on the Rabies certificate. If you have any questions please contact Ellington Animal Control at (860) 870-3155 or Town Clerk (860) 870-3105.
