National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day to be Held Saturday

The Ellington Resident State Trooper's Office is one of the collection sites, as is Somers.

Do you need a way to safely dispose of unused prescription medications? Saturday, September 29, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Ellington Resident State Trooper and Somers Resident State Trooper will be collecting your expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

No needles or syringes accepted.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is an effort to provide an environmentally safe way to dispose of prescription medications and to keep those drugs from being used improperly. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health reports that 90 percent of addictions start in the teenage years and that prescription medication is the most commonly used drugs among 12 to 13 year olds. Two-thirds of teens who abuse pain relievers say they get them from their family members and friends.
