Ellington Rallies Around Injured Student

Ellington High School student Troy Russell injured two vertebrae while diving in Rhode Island, according to Twitter reports.

Ellington is showing its love and support for one of its young residents, EHS student Troy Russell, who injured two of his vertebrae while diving in Rhode Island yesterday, according to a number of social media reports.

Friends and residents have been rallying behind Russell on Twitter at #PrayForTroy and on Facebook, asking for prayers and positive thoughts as he recovers from his injury.

"I'll be thinking about you all day," one supporter said. "Hoping for the best. Stay strong."

Russell is in fair condition as of Tuesday morning, according to Rhode Island Hospital.

Russell's baseball coach, Keith Tautkus, said that the hardworking shortstop is known for his passion for baseball.

"He plays baseball all the time. He really loves the game," Tautkus said.

His coach and his team will surely be thinking of him.

"We're as concerned as everyone else is," Tautkus said.
