The caption in the Images of America: Ellington reads:

"Ellington Center Historic District was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The village green and the quality of the architecture define the historic New England village.  In this view of Main Street, the H. H. McKnight home, now the Nellie McKnight Museum, is east of the third building of the Ellington Congregational Church. The Rufus Leonard House, built in 1884, is in the foreground."
