Buddy the Wondermutt discusses ways to keep both humans and canines in shape

The other day my beloved human took me to see my healthcare professionals (That’s the Vet) for a copy of my rabies inoculation and a general checkup.

I was very surprised to find out that I weighed 57 pounds. Me, a lovable Brittany Spaniel weighing in at a whopping 57 pounds! And while I was deemed to be in excellent health, I personally felt that I could stand to drop a pound… or 5.

I naturally blamed my human. All those treats for being 'good' and bits of dropped human food (he’s kind of clumsy) piled up on my sleek physique and made me very self-conscious.

Once we returned home, I went and pawed at my human, then brought him the leash. What better way to get myself, and my human, in shape than taking him for a nice walk.

Okay, I admit, I’m a bird dog. Actually, I’m a bird, squirrel, chipmunk, butterfly, blowing leaf, and random shadow dog, and this can lead to a rather harried run on the part of my human, trying to keep pace. After all, I’m very active. And he is at a distinct disadvantage, only using two legs to run with.

But all in all, it’s great exercise for both of us. And it provides the other humans on my street with great entertainment.

I watch the talking picture box with my human and from it I understand that humans are constantly worried about their health and fitness. Losing excess weight seems to be as much a priority with humans as marking new territory is to us canines.

Therefore I want to urge all of my fellow canines to grab that leash, take it to your human, and get them outside for a walk. Or a run. Either way, it’s good for them, and we can benefit from it as well.

And those other humans may just get some entertainment from it as well.
