Hemlock Hill Farm in Somers to Cease Christmas Tree Sales in 2014

This is the last season for this Somers farm, which has been selling trees since the 1980s.

A longtime Somers farm is ending its traditional sale of Christmas trees.

The Hartford Courant reported that Hemlock Hill Farm, which has been selling trees since 1987, will cease its operations after the 2013 season. The owners of the farm, Bill and Kathy Kogut, told the Courant that their lease is up and they will not renew it.

The Koguts operate a nursery in Suffield in addition to the tree farm in Somers. They sell about 2,500 cut-your-own trees and 500 pre-cut trees to the public every year, The Courant reported.

Check the Courant's story for some heartfelt reactions from Hemlock Hill customers.
