It was a year ago last Sunday that the historic Somersville Mill was destroyed by fire, but the area is still littered with the debris caused by the blaze.
First Selectman Lisa Pellegrini said the property was uninsured, and "the town ended up paying for all the measures to make it safe."
A New York City-based company, Venture Capitals LLC, is listed in town records as the property owner, but Pellegrini said the firm "has been unresponsive to requests" to clean up the site.
A tax sale has been scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 7 in the auditorium at Town Hall, Pellegrini said.
