Scantic Valley Farm Celebrates 75th Year with Family Fun Activities

The collaboration with Big Y adds to the fun.

Those who’ve visited the Scantic Valley Farm’s corn maze in past years know that there’s lots to see and do on the farm besides the amazing maze. The farm offers hayrides, pumpkin picking, a “sandbox” full of corn kernels in the OK Corral play area, a picnic area and concession, games for the kids, and products and crafts for sale.

New this year is a stick pony race track plus retail shop full of fall decorations, jams, honey, gourds and more.

This year, Big Y has teamed up with Scantic Valley Farms to celebrate their 75th anniversary. What this means for families is that the farm on Ninth District Road in Somers now has a “Big Y Kiddie Maze,” which is a smaller, easier adventure for those young and old to traverse.

This, along with the large maze, covers an 8-acre field with over three miles of trails. Secretly-placed carved posts are located throughout the maze, allowing visitors to search for them in the hopes of winning a T-shirt and $75 Big Y gift card.

Another perk to the collaboration is that folks can save $2 on adult admission or $1 off kids’ admission by using a Big Y silver coin (Silver Club Card members get the same discount on up to five tickets.)

The farm is open each Saturday and Sunday through October 30 from 11 a.m. to dusk.
