Rep. Bacchiochi celebrates Willington Pizza's 35th with joint charity event

HARTFORD – On Monday, August 5th, Willington Pizza House kicked off its 35th anniversary by holding a charity fundraiser and canned food drive for the Hockanum Valley Community Council, Inc. (HVCC), a private nonprofit human services agency serving the Town of Vernon and Tolland County area.

In celebration of its anniversary, throughout the entire month of August, every large designer pizza ordered at Willington Pizza House will include a $3.50 contribution to HVCC.

State Reps. Tim Ackert (R-8) and Penny Bacchiochi (R-52) honored the anniversary by presenting Willington Pizza’s owner, Jeff Kelly, with an official citation from the general assembly recognizing the success of Willington Pizza and the support the business has provided for the local community for the past 35 years.

During the meeting, the state legislators praised HVCC for their on-going devotion to community service and the numerous programs they provide for seniors and families in need. HVCC currently provides food to about 900 families per month in the Vernon/Tolland region. The organization also offers residents access to a food pantry, a thrift store, and provides numerous other elder services and counseling.

"It's an honor to recognize businesses that give so much back to the community. Willington Pizza has a long record of community service and Hockanum Valley is a great community provider,” Rep. Bacchiochi said.

“HVCC is Tolland County’s largest, and most needed human services organization in the region, and I am happy to be here supporting this cause and the people who graciously volunteer their time to help our neighboring families throughout our community,” said Rep. Ackert. “I’d like to thank Jeff Kelly and everyone at Willington Pizza for hosting this fundraiser, and I congratulate Willington Pizza House for their success over the past 35 years.”
