Ellington-Somers, CT
SUMMARY OF RESOURCES PROVIDED
You have sacrificed to keep our country—and everything it represents—safe. The Town of Somers, Department of Veterans Affairs, honors and serves you by continuing to fulfill the ethics of every service, “pledging to never leave a fallen comrade behind and to care for their family.” You may be eligible for VA benefits if you are a uniformed Service member; Veteran; or spouse, child, or parent of a deceased or disabled Servicemember, or Veteran.
Somers Dept. of Veterans Affairs is staffed with two Defense Department veterans who understand many of the unique issues you face. We are here to help you and your eligible dependents locate the following resources for which you may eligible (not all-inclusive): compensation & financial assistance, education, healthcare, home loan, insurance, pension/disability claims assistance, vocational rehabilitation and employment, burial and memorial benefits, awards and medals, military records, DD-214/DD-215, elder services, flags and markers, veteran license plates, real estate tax exemptions, review of discharge, transition, and women veterans outreach.
As you make important choices about your family, finances, and career, we encourage you to use the information found here and the many resources available to you.
Visit us here in our office at the Somers Town Hall (by appointment only, Tuesday and Friday, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 860-272-4207) or go to eBenefits at www.ebenefits.va.gov, your one-stop shop to apply for and learn about your benefits. You may also visit the nearest U.S. VA regional office or call the U.S. government VA office at 1-800-827-1000. For more information, you may also visit their website at www.va.gov/benefits.
