PD: Man Drove 130mph on I-84 in Tolland

Police said the driver had an 18-year-old passenger in the car.

State police arrested a New York man on reckless driving charges after he was caught going twice the legal speed limit on I-84 earlier this week, police said.

Yao Wen Wu, 23, was driving eastbound in Tolland at 11:03 p.m. on Oct. 14 when an off-duty trooper traveling in an unmarked Dodge Charger clocked him speeding at 135 mph, according to a police news release.

The officer pulled Wu over and arrested him on charges of first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving and operating with a suspended or refused license, police said.

Wu, of 4003 Vernon Boulevard, Apt. 6F, Long Island City, had an 18-year-old female passenger in the vehicle at the time of his arrest. Police did not state what kind of car it was.

Wu was held on a $7,500 bond and was due in Rockville Superior Court on Oct. 15.
