The Somers Congregational Church has been a part of the community since 1727. They offer vocal and bell choirs, studyMore groups, youth groups for middle and high school students and many missionary outreach programs. Some of these programs include the Network Against Domestic Abuse, Covenant to Care, and providing Christmas gifts to children in the community and at Friendship Kitchen in Stafford. On the 15th of every month, there is a free community supper at the church. Donations are accepted and those donations go towards the next month's supper and not as a fundraiser. Sunday school, confirmation, and other programs are offered for the young people of the church.</p> <p>Located at the church are Champ's Place, which is a food pantry, and the Somers Cooperative Preschool. Champ's Place is open on Monday from 10am until noon. The preschool is not affiliated with the church but is located around the back of the building.</p> <p><em><strong>Editor's Note</strong>: Due to the Jan. 1, 2012 fire, some of this information has changed.</em></p> <p><em>The church is currently worshipping at the Community Education Building at Johnson Memorial Hospital and the Somers Cooperative Preschool is now at the Somers Baptist Church.</em></p>

At the Congregational Church of Somersville, you will immediately notice the sense of family. It is one of twoMore congregational churches in town and the two are cooperative, not competitive.</p> <p>This congregation is a smaller, "family sized" church that is known for its many dinners. Dinners are held within the congregation and also for the community.</p> <p>While the church is small and cozy, there are still many ways to be involved. The church tries to host intergenerational fellowship activities that all can participate in. </p> <p>At the church, there are 12 different missionary programs - four that are denominationally related, four that are locally focused, and four that have a national or international scope.</p> <p>There are also music programs for youth and adults, youth programs, study groups, and child care during the service.</p>
