Somers Elementary School is where students in Somers begin their schooling. Since the school is in a buildingMore that used to be an old high school, the students have things available to them, like a full auditorium with a stage, that are not normally found at an elementary school. The school also has two mobile laptop labs, three stationary computer labs containing laptops and a gymnasium.</p> <p>There is a lot of interaction between the students at the school and the local community. The school also has a sister school in China. The students have built a Chinese garden in the courtyard of the school and use it to learn in a hands-on manner.</p>

AtMore Center School, there is involvement with the community in the form of community service. Such service includes creating baskets for Thanksgiving for Ellington families and running a coat drive.</p> <p>Presentations such as "Parenting with Love and Logic" and "Raising Readers Club" are held at Center School and also at the Hall Memorial Library.</p> <p>The PTO at Center School also brings special guests to the school for various programs.</p>

In Ellington, there are two elementary schools -- Crystal Lake and Center School, a combined elementary and intermediate school -- Windermere, a middle school -- Ellington Middle School, and a high school -- Ellington High School.</p> <p>Board meetings are normally held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. All meeting notices are posted in each school, the School Administration Building, the Town Hall, Hall Memorial Library, and on the Web site. In Somers, Mabelle B. Avery Middle School is the middle schooling area for students in town. The building was renovatedMore in 2006 and has many new features and accommodations. The cafeteria, gym, and band and choral room are downstairs, and the classrooms and new media center are upstairs. There are two laptop carts that each have 26 laptops. These carts are brought into the classrooms, so much of the computer work is done in the classroom. All of the science labs are in the science rooms. The Mabelle B. Avery Middle School is on the 115-acre campus that makes up the Somers educational complex. Attached to the school is the Somers education district office, and across the way from it is the Somers Public Library.
Somers Academy-The Grammar School

Somers Academy-The Grammar School is a private school in Somers that was originally founded in 1981 in Wilbraham,More Mass. In 1998, it moved to its current location in Somersville. This school is committed to fine arts, performing arts, science and technology. Instead of having a computer lab, the school runs on an integrated technology program and therefore has 30 MacBooks and 12 iPads that the students use right in the classroom. There is a foreign language program and much time is spent on that as well. Plays and musicals are held throughout the year. The school is as committed to special subjects as it is to the usual academics.</p> <p>The school is also very focused on tolerance and diversity and international and global education and has fun and informative ways of teaching students these lessons. Somers Academy-The Grammar School pulls from over 30 towns, including many in Massachusetts. Because the school is so small, class sizes range anywhere from five to 15 students so the students get personalized, one-on-one attention every day.</p>
