The school offers a cooperative program, meaning that the parents of the students are very much involved with the running of the school. They make up the board, as well as go into the classrooms and work alongside the teachers, and everyone has a job to do.

The curriculum consists of story time, instructional craft projects, free play, music and creative movement activities, nature and science exploration, field trips that expose the children to the world around them, and special visitors that come work with the children.

The Somers Cooperative Preschool operates from September to June and is open to children from any town. Classes are held on different days for different age groups. There are morning and afternoon sessions for each age group.
