In fall 1990, several families who had been attending the Somers Baptist Church began a home Bible Study group. ThatMore group became the nucleus of the Ellington Baptist Church. In September 1992, initial public services were held in Center School as an extension of the Somers Baptist Church. In 1993, the Ellington Baptist Church was established as its own church. On March 7, 2004, the church held its first service in its own multi-purpose building on Pinney Street.

The desire is to faithfully preach, teach, and live the word of God. Ellington Baptist Church desires to give every resident in town the opportunity to know the Bible better and to understand what it says about God and man, life and death and the present and the future. There is also the desire to expose everyone to the gospel of Jesus Christ and allow people to make their own decision with regard to the claims of Jesus on their lives. The church provides a loving, forgiving, and accepting atmosphere where people can grow in their relationship with God.

The Conservative Baptist Association of America is a fellowship of approximately 1,100 churches across the country, including 250 that can be found in the northeastern part of the country.
