The Ellington Christian Nursery School aims to foster cooperation and creativity in children through its activities.…More The school's purpose is for all the children to reach their potential in all areas of development. The children are provided hands-on experiences with developmentally appropriate materials and activities. The school has spiritual, emotional, social, physical and cognitive goals for the students. As a Christian school, the children are taught about Christ's love and that they are being watched over.</p> <p>It is the school's hope that the children will experience the love of Christ, as modeled by the teachers, in a real way. The Ellington Christian Nursery School is located in the Wesleyan Church and runs September through May.</p>

The Somers Cultural Commission has the purpose of promoting artistic and cultural programs and activities. It…More encourages development of and participation in activities, and also offers advice planning and coordinating events in town. The commission sponsors many activities throughout the year. </p> <p>The commission supports a scholarship, sponsors a concert series in the summer and also holds art and photography shows.</p> <p>Meetings are held the second Monday of every month - except July and often December - at 7pm in Piedmont Hall and is open to the public. Many of the events held by the commission are held at Piedmont Hall.</p>
