Golf for Andrew: Andrew Haraghey, a Fermi High School student with cerebral palsy, is training for a spot on the U.S. Paralympic Skiing Team. To defray the costs of travel, equipment and training expenses, a benefit fundraiser is being held Monday, Aug. 12 at Sonny's Place in Somers. From 4:30-8:30 p.m., Sonny's Place will donate a portion of their fees to aid Andrew. Sonny's Place is an entertainment spot for the entire family. The site features an outstanding 18-hold miniature golf course, go-karts, a driving range, batting cages, a rock climbing wall, "Monkey Motion" and an arcade.
MOMS Club: The MOMS Club of Ellington is holding its monthly social on Thursday, Aug. 15th at 9:30 a.m. at Connor's Place playground in Somers. The monthly social is a great way to meet other local moms and ask questions about the MOMS club. Job Fair: Dymotek is hosting an Open House/Job Fair Thursday, Aug. 15 at 4 p.m. at 7 Main St., Ellington.
Jackie Robinson Movie: The film "42" will be shown Friday, Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Hall Memorial Library in Ellington. The movie is rated PG-13.
4-H Fair: The annual Hartford County 4-H Fair begins Friday, Aug. 16 at the Four Town Fairgrounds, Egypt Rd., Somers. There will be loads of livestock events, dairy cattle, beef cattle, poultry, goats, sheep and much more. Live entertainment Friday and Saturday, Doodlebug Pulls Saturday and Sunday, horse draw, amusements, food and much more. For more information, go to www.hartfordcounty4hfair.org.
