Parenting Workshop Series Coming to Ellington

These interactive workshops, sponsored by the Ellington Youth Services Department and the Parent Connection, will focus on parenting tweens.

Starting this week, the Ellington Youth Services Department and the Parent Connection will be sponsoring a series of parenting workshops for parents of tweens.

According to these groups, a tween is defined as a child between the ages of eight and 14, or fourth grade to eighth grade. They are between childhood and adolescence and parenting can become difficult at this time.

These interactive workshops will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Hall Memorial Library on Thursday, and also on Oct. 24 and Jan. 15. During these workshops, childcare will be provided free of charge.

The featured speaker on Thursday will be Dr. Anthony Wolf, who will be talking about setting limits and discipline.

Other workshops will be offered in March and May will discuss the topics of leadership, role models, and self-confidence versus self-esteem. For more information on these sessions, check back at youth.ellington-ct.gov.
