Ellington Couple Hosting Diaper Drive

Jenna and Russ Miller are hosting the drive to benefit the Tracey Thurman House in Enfield - a shelter for women and children who are the victims of domestic violence.

Starting today, Ellington’s Jenna and Russ Miller will be hosting their second annual diaper drive to benefit the Tracey Thurman House in Enfield - a shelter for women and children who are the victims of domestic violence.

The drive will run from today through May 28 and there are three drop off locations: The Miller Home, the , and the Enfield Child Development Center. The shelter is in need of diapers sized four, five, and six, and pull-ups, but every donation is accepted. The diapers cannot be opened.

“If they are in a plastic package from a big box where the plastic is unopened, that’s okay,” Jenna said.

“We have been very blessed in the support that we've received from friends and family throughout our pregnancy with Courtney and Bella and the continued support we receive,” Jenna said. “Having two children at one time, we certainly understand the incredible expense associated with buying diapers and/or pull ups.”

Jenna said that last year, she contacted the Network Against Domestic Violence after researching the Tracey Thurman House a little and was overjoyed to find out that diapers, wipes, and pull-ups would be greatly appreciated and that there was a need for them.

“We thought, ‘What a great organization to be involved in and make these women’s lives a little easier,’” she said.

Last year, the Millers collected just shy of 5,000 diapers and pull-ups, plus wipes and a few other miscellaneous items, like laundry detergent.

“We are hoping this year to exceed that number,” Jenna said. “And we’ve decided that this will be an annual event to benefit the shelter.”
