You Raise Me Up

The power of supporting one another goes a long way! Your presence is a vital part of helping others succeed in life!

The end of the school year always concludes with multiple events that are piled on top of each other. Weekends are spent attending recitals, sporting events, school music concerts, prom send offs, graduations, graduation parties, etc… the list goes on and on. As the Director of a Child Care Center, a wife of a Varsity Coach, a dance teacher, a mother of two, and the oldest of 8 children…. this time of year is filled with opportunities to reflect and celebrate.

I try my best to live in the moment and really be present at each event. This spring I watched two of my siblings and their dates get all glammed up for the prom. The next weekend I shared the stage with my daughter at our recital and also cheered on my son at his lacrosse game. This weekend, I attended my brother’s high school graduation and then the following day hosted my school’s graduation where my daughter, sister, and niece all graduated from preschool.  Each event is special in its own way, yet similar in the fact that we were celebrating great accomplishments and supporting each other.

There is much to be said for the power of supporting one another. “Support and encouragement are the vital factors in strengthening all human relationships. These are especially important contributory elements in building the foundations of life-long relationships- especially with children” states Gabby Bugwadia (www.helium.com). I can’t agree with Gabby more!

When I think about accomplishments that I have made in my life, big and small, I often reflect on the support and encouragement I received from those around me that propelled me to keep reaching for my goal. Everyone needs to have the feeling of support and love in order to succeed. That support may be as simple as attending a recital (yes, I know they can sometimes be long)…. BUT you being there can make all the difference in the world to the person you are cheering on!  The same goes for graduations, sporting events, and music concerts. Your presence sends a strong message of love and support, and that can certainly go a long way.

So as you encounter others in your life, be their support system and know that you are impacting them in more ways than one just by your presence, for you are giving them the strength and confidence they need to do good in this world.
