Music and Neuroscience~ It's NOT just for fun!

Sep. 17, 2013 — People who are better able to move to a beat show more consistent brain responses to speech than those with less rhythm, according to a study published in the September 18 issue of The Journal of Neuroscience. The findings suggest that musical training could possibly sharpen the brain's response to language.  http://ht.ly/p6d0Z
I LOVE when I see scientific articles that reinforce the work I do!  As an early childhood music educator, I see everyday the power of music.  In and of itself, music is powerful and important for all of us, but the side-benefits are endless!  Year after year I have families who tell me stories of their children's growth and development.  They share them with me, their music teacher, because they see that what we do in class reinforces and supports EVERYTHING ELSE.
When someone asks me why they should enroll their child in a Music Together class, my reply should be "Why wouldn't you?"
This week we begin our mixed age classes for children ages 0-5.  In Oct. our classes for Babies, Big Kids and Special Needs start up.  Why should you enroll your child?  Why wouldn't you?  See you soon~
