Somers Girls Lacrosse Avenges Loss to Ellington

The Spartans defeated Ellington 16-13 on Tuesday after falling to the Knights last Wednesday.

The girls lacrosse team avenged a loss to last week with a 16-13 victory on Tuesday.

Last Wednesday, the Spartans fell 13-12 but the tables were turned on their home field.

Ellington led 9-7 at the half but Somers stormed back in the second half for the victory.

Elizabeth Poitras led the way for the Spartans with six goals, Karen Trescott scored three goals and had two assists, and Jessica Olynciw had three goals and an assist.

Katie Morrell had two goals and an assist, and Kelsey Falcone and Marissa Fragomeni each added a goal.

Morgan Falcone also tallied an assist for the Spartans.

Ellington was led by Julie Gage who had eight goals and three assists. Kelly Conley added two goals and two assists for the Knights.

Josie Gerber had a goal and an assist and Lauren Arbeiter and Bailey Krasinski each added a goal.

For Somers (3-9), Melissa Perry made 15. Olivia Kosilla made four saves for Ellington (4-9).

Somers travels to Avon on Wednesday and Ellington hosts Granby on Thursday.
